MARK
I know, I’ve barely touched on the various approaches to time travel (many of which Zortic tried in the Classic strip), but you can certainly get an idea of how the rest of this conversation is going.
You still didn’t explained that “Your family will not grow old” cheat.
It’s not an exact replacement of relativity. There is still a perception of some time passing during a voyage. But what may take years will only seem like weeks aboard ship, or on the planet that’s not traveling. Also, since it ties to distance traveled, it doesn’t work to just go FTL in a loop back to where you started.
So your family will grow old, just not “Old”.
My point was that if it seems like weeks on the planet that’s not traveling, it’s faster that radio signal, as it seems like years on the planet before the radio signal traverse interstellar distances. So, if that broadcast is a radio, they are faster. If it’s not, it’s FTL communication.
It is FTL communication, but not instantaneous. And since a signal doesn’t actually have mass it’s still faster than anything that contains people.
