Posting as an untrained non-therapist, its a little unusual to talk about outright shooting a wife in cartoon dialogue visibly cued to appeal to children. Wife jokes also have a ‘beyond the fourth wall’ nudge-wink quality to them girls may find annoying.
Zoie’s dialogue is typical over-the-top cartoon-villain violent and can’t be taken that seriously, especially after Splink’s quip about how Zoie talks, a standard gag unreasonably juxtaposing tuff-girl Zoie with the hyper-violent Ghar who eats planets.
Splink and Zortic, on the other hand, are not clearly referring to stunning Zoie, while possession by Ghar implies above lethal force required. Even though, no small weapon is likely to harm Ghar.
If in panel three, Zortic drew his glove-gun and Splink’s dialogue swapped “shoot” for”stun”, the dialogue in panel four would make more sense.
