One of my proudest moments was when Kris Straub of Starslip commented on remembering this bit.

I know in the original Christmas Carol it’s not just that Scrooge is going to die, but the nature of his death.  But whenever Christmas Carol is reduced to a half hour sitcom version, it’s always insinuated that Scrooge is going to die if he doesn’t celebrate Christmas.  So clearly the message is that if you celebrate Christmas, you’ll be immortal!
