The first four panels are a careful recreation of the original Melonpool strip where Mayberry caused the ruin of Star Trek.  While in reality Spock chose to keep the ears (stay tuned to find out why), Spock did ease off on a slightly green tinge to his makeup after the first couple of episodes.  And now you know why.
